Mulberry Row was the industrial hub of Jefferson’s 5,000-acre plantation, where dozens of enslaved men, women, and children labored. Working with a team at Monticello and interactive design firm Bluecadet, I produced audio, video, and multimedia content to share their unforgettable stories.

This interactive family experience shared stories of Americans who made a difference in the world. After visiting an object and hearing its story, kids answered personality quiz questions. At the end, they learned their personality type—creative, courageous, persevering, or social—and how they might change the world themselves one day.

Organized on the occasion of the 2021 celebration of Juneteenth, this walking tour highlights places where people dreamed up and practiced versions of freedom during slavery and other forms of involuntary servitude. Co-produced in collaboration with MoMA’s Sara Bodinson, Arlette Hernandez, and Thomas J. Lax; filmmaker Tourmaline; sound design by James Morgan.
